We three and also just me

Me, Rachael and Hermione has our open studio and show 'Fernweh' the other Friday, about ten days ago! It went really well - loads of people came and it was a bit of a partyyyy. All of our stuff looked great together and I think people liked it.
I had a plasticine banana and a clay painted banana that i'd made, which were next to a pile of real bananas for people to eat. Some of the bananas had little monoprinted scraps as 'blankets' on, that you could keep with your banana. They were all dyed with onion and black beans etc of course! The monoprinted parts were little doodles of the Swaglands, and also trending hashtags on important environmental activism twitter accounts, such as GreenpeaceThe Guardian environment twitter, and Fossil Free UK.
The hashtags included: #Keepitintheground, #Shellvspeople, #divest amongst others.
The reason I use bananas is because there is only one species of banana (making them more susceptible to destruction). I have since found out that there are two main wild species of banana, but when i've mentioned this, people still think there is only one. So i'm sticking with the popularly accepted idea that there is only one species of banana - and once that species is savaged, the banana-lands are gone forever! A metaphor for our fragile planet.

The bananas in their blankets - it's basically a banana hospital! The bananas are ill: the world is ill. When i first put a blanket on a banana i nearly cried, for real. And that has never happened with something i've made! It was probably sad because it was a silly sight - but it's a bloody UNsilly issue this environmental destruction! They were ironic tears!

my little addition outside the doorway - it's  photo i took of my sister disappearing over a gigantic snow drift, possibly into another realm.

Now back in the studio, getting distracted by my new bags of sexy pink glitter that arrived in the post, while madly getting ready for my solo show (!?!) 'Laterstate Oasis' in Peckham which opens on Thursday... at the Small White Elephant on Choumert Rd from 5-8pm (BYOB!) - come one come all.
Here is the poster:
