Above are some of the pitifully small selection of photos I took at last Friday's mono-printing workshop. We set up in the Well Beeing Garden. It was a nice small group so we had some good chats, and some people said how relaxed and inspired they felt afterwards which was really nice.
This coming Friday will be more structured, with everyone working with a worksheet to design a complex tattoo full of personal references. Then we will mono-print those designs onto fabric patches (or paper is people prefer) to finish with a complete work of art. We'll add colour too with paints, considering the emphasis that colour can place on the meaning of imagery.
Plus we'll collage I think, to get the mind working properly: choosing imagery that intuitively appeals, working out why it does, and arranging different spatial configurations to denote a certain talismanic message surrounding different collage pieces/symbol.
Last week we had a really fun Fossil Free Southwark meeting, in which I stencil printed our logo
t-shirts and other garments. This was really fun and felt grassroots and cunning, especially as were all gathering in a tiny lamp-lit garden. I'm gonna bring some of this atmosphere to future workshops.
Some recent notebook pages surrounding my thinking about tattoos and the channeling of the soul to make safe spaces.
And about a world that you imagine and desire, and can inhabit through talismans and tattoos, and by transforming small spaces.
